Photographs

The photographs in this gallery range from local photographs of Eugene, Portland and Cannon Beach, capturing the natural beauty of forest and water areas, to more exotic locations. Traveling to Korea in 2003-2004, visiting China and living in Japan for two years from 2009-2011, Sarina Dorie photographed the people and places of Asia while she taught English overseas.

The subject matter that inspires Sarina the most involve the effects of mist, shadow, and light, and the way they interact with each other. She is drawn to color, contrast and soft, and subtle shifts of light to create the feeling of an enchantment or a forgotten time, whether in a photograph of a forest scene or a belly dancer mid spin.

Sarina’s specialty is nature photography but she also photographs artwork for artists, portraits for authors, weddings and events and book covers. Examples of her own book covers are under the Writing/News page.
